Johannes Andersen designed his famous dry bar for the Danish manufacturer Skaaning & Søn in 1960. Their workmanship was superb, featuring intricate timber veneers in teak or rosewood contrasting with glossy black working surfaces.
In keeping with mid century modern design principles, these compact bars are very functional as well as being the epitome of MCM style.
We found one for sale in France, costing around $12,000 including delivery to Australia, and a pristine, but sold, Johannes Andersen dry bar in the Netherlands.
Fortunately, we have an excellent example of the Johannes Andersen bar right here at Mid Century Modern Furniture! Our bar was purchased new by an Australian diplomat and has remained in the family ever since. Photos coming soon.
